this is what i just picked up from the grocery store. it cost $32. Thirty. two. dollars. for 1 pineapple, 2 bags of grapes, a small container of raspberries, 1 soft drink and 2/$1 nuts….
do you know how much junk food i could have for $32? do you have any clue how much McDonald’s you can get for $32?
stop shaming fat people poorer than you or people poorer than you in general for not eating healthier. stop lying about how cheap it is or how it’s comparable to fast food. just stop.
This is because you went to a store. You’re paying the trucker to bring it to the store, the stock guy to take it out of the freezer, and for all the shit that doesn’t get eaten they need to throw away they comp that price onto you.
I try to get my produce from the farmers market and shop for the stuff that isn’t fresh at the store. At the farmers market I get produce to feed three adults for a week under 35 dollara ; usually a few zucchini, some fruits, garlic, basil, fresh cheese, mushrooms, etc. The food is fresher and cheaper ;)
Good luck, hope you find a way to work a budget around your healthy choices.
do you realize that there are not farmer’s markets everywhere?
do you realize that in some places, even if there are farmer’s markets, they’ve been glamourized and are just as expensive as the supermarkets?
do you realize that even if the farmer’s market is cheaper, in some places they only exist in the summer so for the rest of the year you can’t go to the farmer’s market because it doesn’t fucking exist?
I do realize all these things. I just made a suggestion…
